Nubax’s data solution for a warehousing firm in Gulf
Reliable and high-performance data infrastructure is a must for any rising business nowadays. Most forward-thinking businesses recognise the importance of this data and use it as a decision-making tool in their operations. Using data solutions to their full potential could be groundbreaking for any business entity. There is a significant supply chain provider based in the middle east region every day revolutionizing how we look at transportation of goods by trucks and other warehouse operations. This business giant wished to get their complex problems solved to have a positive impact on the business operations and consumers of their services. For this, they needed someone highly knowledgeable and having enriched experience of IoT, telematics devices and cloud for a scalable architecture. Thus, Nubax got on board to solve their deep-rooted problems with our advanced knowledge and expertise. We believe that data science must be at the heart of everything we do in order to deliver on any business's commitment to making its services dependable and accessible to everybody.
This warehousing and logistics company wanted a system that would allow people to monitor the truck’s location and various details regarding the same developed and designed for optimal operations as well as convenience. They reached out to us and together we set about to create a data solution that would tackle issues that usually arise in relation to the truck transportation business.
Nubax used Azure and various IoTs to set up a system to track and monitor all the trucks being used to transport the goods from one point to another. Azure is a cost-effective cloud computing platform associated with Microsoft which could manage large volumes of data at an unbelievable speed. Password encryption also ensures data protection. As you all know these days, data security is even more critical. In this case, the application is the data source where the event occurs. Post ingestion in the event hubs, data is stored and managed through the cloud resource manager and data cataloguing. The business dashboard facilities the actionable insights useful for the business.
Given the scale of this company, loads of data is being generated every almost minute. Improving the navigation experience for both driver-partners in terms of reaching the pick-up and drop-off destinations as quickly as possible is a key focus area for leveraging this data. Often when goods are being transported via trucks, clients are solely dependent on the truck drivers for information regarding where they have reached and how long it would take to reach the destination while the drivers need to focus on driving with utmost safety. There is no way to verify this information and it also leads to anticipated doubts and trust issues too. The vehicular tracking system (VTS) would continuously record and update data regarding the speed at which the trucks are travelling, the route taken by it, and the various other aspects. Azure has a feature of third party integration enabling location making it possible to suggest the shortest and fastest routes for the truck drivers to follow for the respective trip. The suggestion of least congested routes makes it easier for the drivers to deliver the promised ETAs.
In addition to this, not only is data properly recorded and uploaded but it is also flagged when the trucks have crossed the speed limit or it has been stopped for more than the required time at any one point. It enables the consumers to view the profiles of the drivers. These profiles indicate the average performance of drivers and relevant basic information about them. All this is made possible through the telematics devices popular known as black boxes. These devices are put on the screens of the cars for gauging uses. To determine how safe you are as a driver, the device detects characteristics of your driving such as speed, acceleration, and deceleration. Telematics devices can also report when a vehicle is operated outside of a geofence, which is a defined area.
The IoT generates the fastest route to reach the destination and the corresponding time that the journey would take. This leads to one of the best features available, that is live location. The app users would be able to use the app to figure out exactly where the truck is at any given point in time. This alleviates all the operational obstacles related to the truck trips.
Scalable data warehouses were essential for our experts. Since Azure's biggest merit is scalability, there is no worry about horizontal scalability in the gradual run of the business. This data-driven model put together by our team delivers messages in the queue, logs in the application, driver profiles and whatnot. Thus, our data solutions are effective for a multitude of problems along with ease for taking strategic and tactical decisions in day to day business operations.
